Albrecht Dürer

Albrecht Dürer, born May 21, 1471 in Nuremberg (Holy Roman Empire), where he died April 6, 1528, was a German Renaissance draughtsman, engraver and painter, also known as a theorist of geometry and linear perspective. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence throughout Europe in his twenties with his high-quality woodcuts. He was in contact with the great Italian artists of his time, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini and Leonardo da Vinci, and from 1512, he was patronized by Emperor Maximilian I.
